Workshops for Divorcing/Separating Parents and Their Children

This program is certified by the State of Delaware and meets the requirements established by Family Court for divorcing or separating parents and those with custody or visitation disputes and their children ages 8 to 16.

Classes are held once a month statewide in our offices and other community locations. Participants must register for classes in advance by calling 1-800-734-2388.

What are the goals of the parents' workshop?

How many people are in a class?

In order to encourage participation, the maximum class size is 12.

What happens during the sessions?

Classes typically include a presentation by the Parent Educator or the showing of a video, followed by group discussion and sharing of experiences. Participants also receive a resource packet of information on community resources, child development, suggested reading materials and activities.

What is the cost?

Adults are charged on a sliding fee scale, up to $100 for the entire program. There is no additional fee for children.

Who facilitates the workshops and where are they held?

Classes are taught by professional group facilitators who have received specialized training. Parallel sessions are held for parents and their children who are between the age of 8 and 16. The course is two sessions lasting three hours each. Classes are held in our offices and other community locations statewide. Separated couples attend different sessions
