Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
NUTRITION REIMBURSEMENT FOR YOUR CHILD CARE PROGRAM
Did you know that when your licensed daycare serves nutritious meals, you can receive reimbursement? The U.S. Department of Agriculture created nutrition guidelines and a way to reward providers who follow them.
Children & Families First is a sponsor of the CACFP for child care programs throughout Delaware. The program ensures that children in licensed child care receive nutritionally balanced meals by reimbursing child care providers for serving meals that follow the guidelines from the U. S. Department of Agriculture.*
CFF manages the reimbursement process for approximately 300 Delaware licensed child care centers and family child care homes. We also conduct training for the participating providers, who are visited three times a year by our Food Program monitors.
Participating providers receive:
-
Monthly cash reimbursement (up to two meals and a snack per day per child)
-
Technical assistance in menu planning, record keeping, creditable foods
-
Free nutrition information and training
-
Free notary services
-
Monthly feedback
In order to join the program, a child care provider must:
-
Be licensed by the State of Delaware
-
Have at least one child enrolled
-
Be willing to serve meals that meet the USDA and Child and Adult Care Food Program/DelaCare guidelines
